talk about going off the deep end...

wow, what an idiot...they will let any old nimrod on tv...that, or maybe only someone this mentally impaired would defend the bush administration's stance on waterboarding.

old man stevens throws a nutty at cnn's dana bash

first off, something of substance actually happened in the situation room.  now, if that wasn't news enough, what happened was sen. ted "bridge-to-nowhere, the internet is a series of tubes" stevens got a little, um, crazy with reporter dana bash.  stevens, the far-too-long-time alaska republican, had his house raided recently over suspected shady dealing he had with an alaskan oil company.  he had been avoiding reporters all day, but ms. bash caught him in a stairwell...and this followed:

SEN. TED STEVENS ®, ALASKA: I put out a statement and I’m not saying anything to anybody beyond that statement.

BASH: Can you say, sir, why the federal agents went to your House or what they took?

STEVENS: Can you understand English? That’s the only statement I’m going to make.

BASH: I do understand that sir, but obviously this is a very important issue, when federal agents and IRS agents come to the home of a U.S. senator.

STEVENS: I understand you’re recording this, but I told you again I made the statement. It’s issued, that’s what my lawyers told me to say, and that’s all I’m going to say.

dana bash can understand english just fine, senator, but i think she's having a harder time understanding how you are still in office.
