coultergiest wants jews to be "perfected," just like her/him/it

the female impersonator herself is again in the news for making an outrageously awful statement.  i could rant about her/him/it, but instead i will wisely bow to wonkette's much better analysis of this:

We’re on a pretty strict “Ignore People Who Deliberately Say Provocative Shit For Big Money,” because otherwise we’d spend all day repeating whatever dull outrage from Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus, Bill O’Reilly, Pat Robertson, etc. But today we are sort of compelled to note that beloved entertainer Ann Coulter has called for the end of Judaism, and the end of the Jews in general.

How will the hard-living old gal finally complete Hitler’s Dream? She’s going to convert all the poor lost Jews to her religion. (Christianity, apparently. Who knew?)

On a CNBC talk show Monday night — who watches CNBC after the markets close? — Coulter was talking to host Donny Deutsch about whatever, and then she demanded that all Jews be converted to Christianity so they would become “perfected,” like she is.

We assume all the people who are so excited about nuking Iran because Ahmadinejad is one of those holocaust-denier nutcases will immediately call for the U.S. to bomb Ann Coulter — or at least boycott Coulter and any teevee station that lets her on the air and any book store that sells her terrific books, right? Right?

ever wanted to sue god? you can...in nebraska

via rawstory.com:

A Nebraska lawmaker is taking his complaints about frivolous lawsuits limits all the way to the top.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers is suing God.

"It's a lawsuit against a defendant who has perpetrated much harm and damage on the human race," Chambers said on CNN.

Chambers says his frivolous lawsuit against the Lord was meant to protest a suit filed against a Nebraska judge who banned the words "rape" and "victim" from a woman's rape trial.

Some Nebraska lawmakers are trying to pass legislation preventing frivolous lawsuits, but Chambers says anyone should be able to file a lawsuit against anyone else.

"The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits," Chambers tells a local Fox affiliate. "Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God."

In his suit, Chambers seeks an injunction against God ordering the deity to stop natural disasters and terror threats. Fox News notes that Chambers is not a Christian.

"Apparently this Omaha senator, he also skips morning prayers during the legislative session and often criticizes Christians," a Fox host notes. "So apparently this guy is not a man of faith, which is fine, but it's a little unusual he's suing God, I don't think he's going to get a response."

The lawsuit notes that Chambers tried several times to contact the defendant, KETV reported.

“Plaintiff, despite reasonable efforts to effectuate personal service upon Defendant ('Come out, come out, wherever you are') has been unable to do so,” the suit says.

americans: ignorantly religious

seeing as how there's all this talk lately about christian morals and the crap about the u.s. being a christian nation (see that pesky constitution if you disagree), i found these recent stats about americans' knowledge, or lack thereof, of christianity and religion to be hilarious. i mean, if americans are so frickin christian and use it to justify everything from morals to foreign policy, you'd expect them to know the basic stuff. maybe they just focus on on hating gays, stopping abortion, preping for the rapture, and asking god to bless the powerpoint. cause jesus was so down with all that stuff, right? the scary thing is, i bet most "christians" think jesus did hate gays....a claim not shown in any of the gospels (and i have read and know all 4, unlike most folks, as is shown below). all this might even just make jesus spin in his grave, according to james cameron, at least.

wonkette gives us some great stats on how little americans know of their supposedly beloved religion...

* 98% of Americans profess belief in a monotheistic God, with 81% claiming to be “Christian.”
* The USA is the “only developed nation in the survey where a majority of citizens reported that religion plays a ‘very important’ role in their lives.”
* Other recent surveys show only 58% to 80% of Americans are “certain” there’s a God.
* 75% of adults believe the famed Benjamin Franklin saying “God helps those who help themselves” is one of the Ten Commandments.
* On CNN today, the two anchors and the religion reporter and presumably the producers and directors and editors did not know Benjamin Franklin is responsible for “God helps those who help themselves,” with the religion reporter specifically claiming that “nobody” wrote the saying.
* “A 2005 survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that nearly two-thirds of Americans endorse the simultaneous teaching of creationism and evolution in public schools,” despite the former’s insistence that the latter isn’t true and never happened.
* 10% believe Joan of Arc was the wife of Noah from the Book of Genesis.
* The decline of religious literacy in America began with the “Second Great Awakening” of the 1800s — a rejection of the Founding Fathers’ Age of Reason and theological knowledge in favor of “personal relationship with God” quackery that led to today’s brain-dead born-agains.
* George W. Bush, himself a religious illiterate who claims to be a born-again Christian whose “favorite philosopher” is Jesus, excitedly jabbers about a Third Great Awakening, which will surely end with people sitting on toilets in their living rooms watching 24-hour live video feeds of Paris Hilton shooting heroin while pooping on a Koran.
* 50% of high school seniors believe Sodom and Gomorrah were married. (They were actually just part of an early “sister cities” Chamber of Commerce program.)
* 17% agree that Ramadan is the “Jewish day of atonement.”
* Most believe Saint Paul led the Israelites from their enslavement in Egypt.
* Only one in three Americans can name the four Gospels, while less than half can even name one of them.
* A majority couldn’t identify the preacher of the “Sermon on the Mount.” (Hint: The Bible says it was Jesus.)
* Religious fundamentalists say all this Christian ignorance is because public schools don’t teach the Bible, but people don’t know anything public schools do teach, either.
* Besides, “evangelical Christians are only slightly more knowledgeable than their non-evangelical counterparts,” so those megachurches aren’t exactly instructing the faithful.
